Solar Panel Output Calculator
Estimate the energy production of a solar PV system. Free, fast and easy to use.
How it works
Daily production is the system size in kWp multiplied by the peak sun hours and the performance ratio, which covers losses in the inverter, wiring, heat and dirt (typically 75–85 %). Peak sun hours depend on location and season — about 3 as a yearly average in Central Europe. The value assumes all energy is used at the given price.
Formula
kWh/day = kWp × peak sun hours × PR
Worked examples
- System size (kWp): 10 · Peak sun hours per day: 3 · Performance ratio (%): 80 · Electricity price (€/kWh): 0.25 → Production per day: 24 kWh
- System size (kWp): 3 · Peak sun hours per day: 4.5 · Performance ratio (%): 80 · Electricity price (€/kWh): 0.25 → Production per day: 10.8 kWh

Frequently asked questions
How much electricity does a 5 kWp system produce?
In Central Europe roughly 900–1,200 kWh per kWp per year, so about 4,500–6,000 kWh for 5 kWp, depending on orientation, tilt and shading.
What are peak sun hours?
The equivalent number of hours per day with full sunshine of 1,000 W/m². They are much higher in summer than in winter.
